Absurdist Comedy writing Workshop
Saturday 13th July, Leicester
Join Future History writer Hugh Dichmont for a creative writing workshop exploring various approaches for developing Absurdist writing for performance, utilising comedy as a creative device.
The workshop is suitable for everyone, from the hobbyist to the
seasoned writer, and will be delivered through discussion, pair work and practice, in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
We will delve into the origins and history of Absurdist theatre, and experiment with ways in which we can utilise its techniques in our own writing to disrupt expectations and (ideally- hopefully?) make people laugh. Learn how to find inspiration, balance tone with message, develop your editing skills and explore approaches to creating comedic characters.
